The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased that Sam Allardyce has effectively steered The Toffees clear of relegation this season, but plenty of them remain far from satisfied with his impact since joining the club.

Sam Allardyce has never been renowned for his aesthetically appealing brand of football and he never will be. What you get from Allardyce is back to basics football, sturdy organisation, and most importantl,y the results to keep you in the English top-flight. Unfortunately for the Everton fans, his expertise do not go much further than that, although he has never really had the opportunity to prove otherwise due to his acrimonious dismissal from the England job in 2016.

Before Allardyce’s appointment David Unsworth enjoyed a short stint as caretaker manager at the club, and he was recently offered the chance to further enhance his managerial career at Oxford United.

However, Unsworth has decided to turn down the vacant managerial role at The Kassam Stadium. His decision has provoked a positive reaction from the Everton supporters on Twitter who appear to retain hope of seeing their former manager to undertake the role once again in the future.

Of course, that view is not shared by the entirety of Everton’s fan base, but his unconditional passion for the club has certainly made him something of a fan-favourite at Goodison Park.
