The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been looking back at the great Freddie Ljungberg on his 41st birthday as their club’s Twitter account wished the Swede a happy birthday. Ljungberg played 321 games and scored 71 goals for the North Londoners in his nine seasons with the Gunners.

On the pitch, Freddie Ljungberg was one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers. The Swede is sometimes put behind the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Robert Pires when remembered in the legendary Arsenal team of the early 2000s, although there is no doubting that the winger was an incredible player. The fans are now looking back at Ljungberg’s nine-year stay with Arsenal as they wish they had a player of his ability around now.
Under Arsene Wenger, the now 41-year-old won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups as he stamped his name into Arsenal history with his role in the Invincibles. In that season alone, Ljungberg scored four Premier League goals and registered six assists as Arsene Wenger’s side went an entire 38 game season unbeaten. That Arsenal side with Ljungberg and co will forever go down as one of English football’s greatest teams and the Arsenal fans propping our bar up won’t let anyone forget that.
