The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern had one overarching concern when Jose Mourinho took charge at Old Trafford. The Portuguese has become as well known for his lack of focus on young players as he has winning trophies – and that’s not a reputation that anyone wants to have.

Indeed, at the likes of Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea, the manager oversaw quite the period of stagnation in terms of young player progression, and that was expected to continue into his reign at Old Trafford.

However, that hasn’t quite been the case, at least judging from a recent post over on the official Man Utd Twitter. The Red Devils recently shared a breakdown of the players with the most caps in the Man Utd squad – and Rashford stands alone at the top of the table with a whopping 93 appearances since Jose Mourinho came to Old Trafford.

Though Rashford has been impressive for Man Utd this season, it’s a surprise to see that the Englishman has been as prominent as he has. Indeed, it appears to go completely against recent comments made by Frank de Boer to BT Sport, who described it as a ‘pity’ that Rashford was featuring under Mourinho – with the former Crystal Palace manager seemingly questioning Mourinho’s faith in the Englishman.

Man Utd fans are delighted with the revelation, and it’s fair to say that they have jumped to the defence of their manager. Indeed, they’re mocking suggestions that he doesn’t place enough focus on young players.

Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
