Liverpool started off quick with one of the first signings of the winter window, many of our regulars thought that this would be the start of a plethora of talent being welcomed through the Anfield doors. However, only Virgil Van Dijk and a relatively unknown Tony Gallacher joined the Reds.
Klopp is in desperate need of strengthening within his team and the winter window, alongside the transfer money from Philippe Coutinho, would have been a perfect opportunity to do so.
Although the front and attacking options Klopp has would make any other manger green with jealousy, it’s safe to say it’s not the same for the backline. With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at TWO players Klopp should be kicking himself at not getting in January…
The Brazilian goalkeeper has made a name for himself in Serie A with Roma. Indeed, he has fantastic shot-stopping capabilities and is highly regarded as Brazil’s number one goalkeeper.
With all the confusion over the No.1 spot in the Liverpool team, Klopp has yet to decide who his go-to keeper is. This has reverberated into the defence and caused mass confusion among the players, not knowing from one week to the next who is behind them.
A goalkeeper of real quality should have been high on Klopp’s list.
The Northern Irish centre-back has had many suitors around the Premier League in recent windows, and ever since he left United for West Brom, he has established himself as one of the most consistent defenders in the league.
Liverpool could have had a new look defence come February and a pairing of him and Virgil Van Dijk would have excited the Anfield faithful alongside our regulars who watch the Reds week in, week out on the pub. Perhaps not the most exciting one, but Evans could have been a very clever signing.
