Liverpool fans here in the Tavern are hoping that this season’s goalkeeping troubles are now behind them, as Loris Karius now looks to have staked his claim for the No.1 spot.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s defensive based problems continue to halt the progression of his Liverpool side, as it’s the turn of goalkeeping errors to cause concern among the faces of many local residents here in the Tavern. Of course, it was the Reds’ 4-4 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates that was the final straw for Klopp’s patience on having Simon Mignolet in the side, as the Belgian flapper made two howlers that cost them all three points. And, ever since his future has looked in doubt after losing out to German Loris Karius, as according to reports in the Guardian, Jurgen Klopp has cast further doubt on goalkeeper Simon Mignolet’s future at Anfield.

Indeed, if the Belgian international wasn’t already fearing for his life at Liverpool then he certainly will be now, after the 29-year-old failed to be selected for the Reds’ Champions League match against FC Porto. Therefore, it appears that manager Jurgen Klopp has seen enough of the shot-stopper, with the Belgian’s World Cup bid now looking like a dream that’s out of reach.

And, the German spoke on the matter of his goalkeepers ahead of their crucial Champions League clash with Porto:

“To be honest I have not made the final decision but it is not the same situation as it was.”

“A good one will play. But I haven’t made the decision so far.”

So, judging by these claims it now appears that Klopp has abandoned his heavily criticised choice to rotate the ‘keepers, something that looks like pushing Simon Mignolet even closer towards a possible exit from the club.

Landlord’s Verdict:

There’s no doubt that the Belgian is edging towards an inevitable exit from Liverpool, something that’s entirely down to the defensive mistakes that the Reds cannot continue to cater for. Indeed, the ambitious Jurgen Klopp is still eyeing his first trophy on Merseyside, with the Belgian’s place in the side not currently helping the cause moving forward.

Therefore, a summer exit looks likely now more than ever, as Loris Karius appears to have tied down his starting position in-between the sticks for the rest of the season. Although, Karius has also been rigged with mistakes at times throughout this season, which could see his failure to include Mignolet become a brave decision.
