Liverpool supporters remain hugely buoyant in the Transfer Tavern a week on from their team’s wonderful 5-0 victory over Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash, a result which all but books their place in the quarter-finals.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their meeting with the Portuguese heavyweights off the back of beating Southampton 2-0 in their preceding Premier League encounter, a result which moved them to within two points of second place Manchester United. And the Reds have all but sealed their spot in the last eight of the Champions League as a hat-trick from Sadio Mane as well as strikes from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino secured a comprehensive victory in Portugal, giving Klopp’s side ample breathing space ahead of the return leg in a fortnight’s time.

Thus, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping their team can continue their fine run of form when they return to Premier League action against West Ham on Saturday.

In the meantime though, several of our resident Reds fans have been keeping a close eye on the club’s youth teams, namely Liverpool’s Under-19 side who faced Nicky Butt’s Manchester United in the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.

And the Merseysiders booked their place the quarter-finals of the competition courtesy of a 2-0 victory at Prenton Park, with goals from Ben Woodburn and Rafa Camacho securing the win for Steven Gerrard’s side, and thus a spot in the last eight.

And several Liverpool fans took to Twitter both during and indeed after the game to rave about the performance of one player in particular, namely Wales international Woodburn, with some calling for the £4.5 million-rated starlet (as per Transfermarkt) to feature in the first team in the not too distant future…

Liverpool fans… what do you think? Let us know!
