The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are fairly nervous heading into tonight’s Champions League game with Spartak Moscow. While Jurgen Klopp’s men need just a point against their Russia counterparts, their European campaign has been fairly frustrating thus far.
So, as you can imagine, our resident Reds are pretty eager to take their collective minds off of things for a while. With that in mind, reports from Marca (via Sport Witness) have provided a welcome distraction for our local Kopites.
According to their report, Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants a move to Anfield in the January transfer window, with his time at Borussia Dortmund looking up. Undoubtedly one of the most prolific marksmen in Europe, he’s understood to have fallen out with the German giants and worked with Klopp previously.
Real Madrid are another side credited with an interest, though Liverpool are reported to be keen on the signing and the Gabonese superstar is thought to be eager to test himself in the Premier League.
Though Roberto Firmino is a popular figure in our bar, the idea of adding Aubameyang to an already amazing attack is a seriously exciting one.
While Aubameyang is a wonderful player, do Liverpool really need him? Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane already form perhaps the best attack outside of Manchester City and adding such a big name could affect the balance of Klopp’s frontline.
