Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge is allegedly closing in on a transfer to Inter Milan, slitting the collective of the opinion of the punters propping up the bar here in the Transfer Tavern.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, Inter Milan are believed to be close to completing the signing of Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge on loan for the remainder of the season, with a view to buying the striker in the summer transfer window. Indeed, the England striker is understood to have agreed a move to the San Siro.
During his time as a Liverpool player, the Englishman has made several meaningful impacts, most notably his indelible 2013/14 season. During that campaign, the former Chelsea forward scored 24 goals in all competitions.
However, persistent injury woes have denied Sturridge the opportunity to realise his best with the Merseyside club, and it’s believed that Inter Milan are willing to chance their luck to see if the striker can rediscover his best form on foreign soil.
Given the fact that Roberto Firmino has established his status as Liverpool’s main striker, and while considering the series of injuries that Sturridge has incurred during his time at Anfield, it might be the most appropriate time for the striker to depart the club.
