The Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona all weekend and many of our punters really are divided over the matter. A truly wonderful player, the manner of his exit has seriously annoyed some of our resident Reds.
Indeed, with the brilliant Brazilian seemingly forcing a move over to Spain, a section of our local Liverpudlians aren’t at all happy with the 25-year-old. Meanwhile, a few of regular Kopites are playing his importance off, believing Jurgen Klopp boasts an attacking line well-suited to deal with his departure.
To an extent, that may well be true. The likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino would be the envy of most Premier League sides. However, over the weekend as Coutinho wrapped up his transfer, a fairly worrying stat emerged for Liverpool fans.
97 – Since his debut in February 2013, Philippe Coutinho has been directly involved in more goals in all competitions than any other Liverpool player (54 goals, 43 assists). Impact.

As tweeted by Opta, the former Inter Milan youngster has been involved in more goals for the Merseyside giants than anyone else, having his hand in 97 strikes. They include 54 goals and 43 assists, depriving Klopp of one of Europe’s most potent attacking midfielders.
Though Liverpool may have other forwards to call on, losing a player of such end product will be a massive loss, despite the huge transfer fee.
