The Tottenham Hotspur fans were delighted in the Transfer Tavern last night after they watched their side comfortably progress to the 5th round of the FA Cup at the second time of asking.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side secured their place in the last-sixteen of the FA Cup yesterday evening as they beat Newport County by 2 goals to nil at Wembley Stadium. An own goal from Dan Butler and a fine finish from Erik Lamela proved to be the difference between the two sides on a memorable evening for the travelling League Two outfit.
The fact that Spurs are playing their home fixtures at Wembley this season gave Newport another opportunity to step onto the hallowed turf of England’s national stadium for the third time in six years.
Rochdale will be Tottenham’s next opponents in the competition, and the League One outfit will be hopeful of securing a replay at the very least, as it could represent their best chance of reaching Wembley this season.
As of next season, Tottenham will cease to play their home fixtures at Wembley and they will move into a new stadium which promises to be an architectural masterpiece.
The Spurs fans are certainly excited to finally play in their new home, and the clubs official Twitter page added to the anticipation earlier today by posting a picture of their new look North Stand which had its eaves fully completed at 5am today.

In response to the post, the supporters have lavished the praise on the aesthetic quality of the stadium so far, and it’s fair to say they can hardly wait to see their side in action at the new stadium.
Here’s what the Lilywhites faithful had to say about their stadium update on Twitter…
