Considering the amount of money the club have, it comes as a surprise to us at the Football Transfer Tavern that Manchester City have not done more deals this January transfer window and talkSPORT report that Marek Hamsik has snubbed the club.
Slovakian international Hamsik has been long linked with both City and Chelsea, yet the 25-year-old looks set to commit his future to Napoli. The Guardian confirmed today that Arsenal are sniffing around Hamsik’s team mate Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi is of course already long gone to Paris Saint Germain as the Serie A side have had to cope with top clubs sniffing around their stellar talents.
In a rare bit of good news for the club however, the agent of the highly rated player, Juraj Venglos claimed to Italian radio station CRC: “The player is happy at the club and in the city. His dream is to play regularly in the Champions League, and with Napoli that is possible. We are currently studying the club’s offer and he could stay in Naples for life. He could become captain and that would be a privilege, and to leave is not part of his plans.”
Hamsik is an iconic footballer in his own right with his mohawk hair style and was part of the Slovakia squad that featured at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
