Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern believe their side has improved under Pep Guardiola’s guidance but they’re expecting major changes this summer.
Many in the bar believe the defence needs to be significantly bolstered, with fans calling out for a new goalkeeper, two new full-backs and a defensive partnership to last summer’s expensive recruit John Stones.
It appears the Citizens share similar ambitions this summer as a source has told ESPN that Guardiola’s side will make a fresh move for Juventus stalwart Leonardo Bonucci, having made the Italian their prime defensive target this summer.
The 29-year-old has recently hinted he’d be open to a move and City will have been impressed by his defensive performances for Juventus, with the Turin giants reaching the Champions League semi-finals after not conceding a goal for eight hours.
However, Bonucci signed a contract extension with the Italian giants in December and would prove to be an expensive addition for the Citizens- although Juventus could cash-in, as they need to rejuvenate their ageing defence and Bonucci turns 30 this summer.
Our landlord believes this would be a fantastic move for the Citizens and also believes it would help England, as John Stones would learn from one of the best defender’s in world football.
