Manchester United fans in the Tavern have slated Antoine Griezmann as interest from Catalan giants Barcelona reportedly grows. The French international seemed destined to sign for United last summer and even stated himself that he was 6/10 sure he would be a Red Devil by the end of the window, before making a spectacular U-turn and signing a new contract at Atletico Madrid after the club were hit with a transfer embargo.
"Griezmann is no big loss if he goes to Barca. Woefully inconsistent in a pub league, and when a footballer lets the weather dictate where they play it says a lot about their attitude when the going gets tough."#MUFC pic.twitter.com/OuTZ68gdj8

This time eight months ago, Manchester United fans couldn’t find a bad word to say about the man who’s been valued at a whopping £90 million by Tranfermarkt as it seemed a matter of when and not if he was going to sign for Jose Mourinho. However, when Simeone’s Atletico Madrid were hit by a transfer embargo, the Frenchman elected to stay in Madrid as they were unable to bring in any reinforcements.
Looking at the situation now, it seems Mourinho has cooled his interest in Basque-born Griezmann, especially as the club brought in Alexis Sanchez in January to partner up with Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku for the Manchester clubs front line. With United’s interest less intense, Barcelona now seems the most likely destination for the 26-year-old as Ernesto Valverde will be looking for long-term replacements for the ageing Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how United fans were discussing potentially missing out on him today.
Totally agree. I wish I were lucky enough to retire in my 30s as a millionaire. The weather wouldn’t mean anything especially since I love the game so much: picking up injuries in Sunday-league games, paying a signing-on fee as well as a fiver every game!
