After watching a dreadful game last night, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping the upcoming summer window provides much more excitement.

As ever, the Red Devils have been linked with some of the biggest players in the world, namely Antoine Griezmann and James Rodriguez, though the latest transfer line to emanate out of Old Trafford is actually to do with a player leaving.

According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid are keen on wrapping up a deal for David De Gea as early as possible, in order to avoid another collapsed move. The Spaniard infamously saw a 2015 transfer breakdown as a result of a faulty fax machine, though has long been linked with an eventual switch.

Indeed, the Champions League holders are understood to retain their interest and reportedly want to ensure a smooth deal to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

One of the elite goalkeepers in world football, the United fans who frequent our venue in their droves would hate to see him go.

Thoughts?
