One Manchester United patron in the Transfer Tavern has ordered our landlord to pour a round of ales for everybody at the bar, in celebration of the latest news regarding Ander Herrera.

The Spain international has become an integral figure at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho was appointed manager last summer, going on to make 25 Premier League appearances as the crucial balancing act in United’s midfield.

The Tavern’s Red Devils drinkers had become a little concerned with the 27-year-old’s contract situation, with his United deal due to expire at the end of next season – although the club have always had the option of a twelve-month contract extension.

But The Daily Mail have now revealed that Jose Mourinho’s side will open contract talks with the feisty midfielder at the end of the season and do not expect his representatives to dispute the terms of a £120k per-week offer, much to the delight of United fans in the Tavern and online.

Indeed, Twitter is borderline ecstatic about the news, so here’s a look at some of the best responses…
