With the Premier League campaign now representing far more of a burden than anything for the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern, they’re hoping to tuck into some tasty rumours and reports.

Indeed, reports from ESPN have gone down well very amongst the Red Devils around the bar today as the club are linked with one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

They claim United have stepped up their attempts to sign Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak this summer as they reportedly become increasingly concerned about losing David De Gea to Real Madrid.

The latter has been strongly linked with a move to Los Blancos and Jose Mourinho is understood to want a top class ‘keeper for next season, either De Gea or someone else.

Oblak, who is believed to have a €100m release clause in his deal with Los Rojiblancos, is said to have been the subject of more intense scouting missions from Old Trafford officials.

Any such fee would make the 24-year-old the most expensive stopper of all time and, should De Gea actually depart, our local United fans hope they can see him between the posts at the Theatre of Dreams.

Thoughts?
