Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern watched on yesterday as two of Europe’s biggest hitters locked horns at the Parc des Princes. PSG lost out 2-1 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate as Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid steamrollered their way into the Champions League quarter-finals. However, there was one player that piqued the interest of our resident Reds in particular: Marco Verratti.
The Italian found himself on the losing against Real Madrid for the second time in three weeks, and to make matters worse he got himself sent off with a second yellow card for dissent against referee, Felix Brych. Despite his red card, the United fans behind our bar saw enough to believe the midfield-maestro is exactly what Mourinho needs to enhance his side.
25-year-old Verratti signed for PSG back in 2012 and has been a key figure in the French giants dressing room for a number of years now. The midfielder, valued at £63 million by Transfermarkt, has won over critics with a number of tidy midfield displays and now the Red Devils want Ed Woodward to add him to the list of big money signings coming into Old Trafford.
You can see the Manchester United fan’s verdict here:
Verratti is such a tidy player, such a shame we don’t have a player like that.
