The Tottenham Hotspur fans were singing Harry Kane’s name in the Transfer Tavern earlier today when he netted an equaliser away at Southampton in the 1-1 draw. Kane’s goal was his 99th Premier League strike for Spurs.
But this type of form does not go unnoticed. Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Kane. And, according to a report by The Sunday Times, Real Madrid are ready to launch a world record bid for the England international’s services.
The prolific striker is likely to demand a hefty transfer fee and Real Madrid are aware of that so they are readying an offer in excess of £200m for Kane. This would overtake Neymar – who left Barcelona for PSG in a deal worth £198m last summer – and make Kane the first £200m player.
The 24-year-old, who has 99 Premier League goals in just 139 appearances, has won the golden boot in the Premier League for the last two seasons, outscoring the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero. Kane looks set to join the 100 club soon with the hit man in form at the moment.
Real Madrid are desperate to sign the Spurs academy product but the North London club will try their best to resist any world record offers from the Spanish giants.
This move could come down to Harry Kane. He has come through the ranks at Spurs and absolutely loves the fans and the club. But a move to Real Madrid could take him to yet another level and if Tottenham are failing to win trophies still, he might be tempted to jump ship.
