The Tottenham fans were relieved in the Transfer Tavern last night after their side secured their place in the 5th round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory over Newport County at Wembley.

Tottenham Hotspur comfortably saw off the challenge of League Two Newport last night to set up a 5th round tie with Rochdale in less than two weeks time. Mauricio Pochettino is still on the hunt for his first trophy as a professional manager, and considering the calibre of opposition his side will face in the last-sixteen, it’s likely that the Argentine already has one eye on the quarter final.

Spurs earned their victory courtesy of an own goal from Newport’s left-back Dan Butler who inadvertently turned home a cross from Moussa Sissoko, before Erik Lamela delicately placed the ball beyond the onrushing goalkeeper after he was brilliantly found by Heung-Min Son in the penalty area.

Tottenham failed to add to their advantage after Lamela doubled the lead, but the fact they opted to remain in cruise control and settle on a 2 goal lead was hardly surprising considering they have two massive fixtures ahead of them within the next seven days.

Following their midweek victory, the Spurs fans took to Twitter to deliver their verdict on the events that unfolded at Wembley, and not for the first time this season, Moussa Sissoko came in for some strong words of criticism.

Sissoko has become a first-team regular under Pochettino this year, but it’s clear from the reaction on Twitter that Pochettino might well be Sissoko’s last remaining admirer at the club.

Here’s what the supporters had to say about Moussa Sissoko’s performance on Twitter in the aftermath of proceedings…
