Southampton supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their team reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup courtesy of a 2-1 success at West Brom in the fifth round on Saturday.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s men had edged past both Fulham and Watford to reach the last 16 of the world’s oldest club competition, which was providing our resident Saints fans with some respite given their woeful Premier League campaign. And the South Coast outfit are now just one game away from a Wembley semi-final as goals from Wesley Hoedt and Dusan Tadic secured the victory at the Hawthorns on Saturday, with Salomon Rondon’s effort not enough to prevent Southampton booking their place in the last eight, where they will face League One promotion contenders Wigan Athletic.

Thus, there have been many buoyant Saints fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping that their great cup run can inspire them to much-needed improvements in the Premier League, starting against Burnley on Saturday.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Southampton supporters to get their teeth into, not least the news that 17-year-old defender Simon Kozak has signed his first professional deal with the club.

The centre-back has struggled with injury since making the move to the South Coast from Spartak Trvana during the summer, but the Slovakian starlet has officially signed a two-and-a-half year deal at St Mary’s, with the hope of breaking into the first team sooner rather than later.

And many Saints fans have taken to Twitter to express their views on the recent announcement…

Southampton fans… what do you think? Let us know!
