Southampton fans here in the Tavern are less than impressed with how the club’s time management, as relegation continues to loom over St Mary’s.
The Saints’ appointment of Mauricio Pellegrino has turned out to be quite the disaster, as the Argentine looks to have supporters fearing for their life in the Premier League. Indeed, it seem as if the only good that’s been done by the former Alaves manager is to break the club’s transfer-record, but not even the signing of Guido Carillo has lived up to the expectations of our local residents.
Indeed, with money from the Virgil Van Dijk sale still waiting to be used in future windows, it may prove too little too late as a lack of movement in January may just have condemned the Saints to a final season in the top-flight.
Of course, now occupying the last relegation place in the Premier League table, perhaps planning for the possibility of Championship football is something the Saints are looking into. Although, it seems as if they’ve already made huge strides in doing so, as Southampton’s Twitter account notified fans that 18-year-old youth product Yan Valery has put pen to paper on a new deal until 2020.
#SaintsFC‘s Yan Valery signs a new deal to keep him at the club until June 2020.
Congratulations, Yan! https://t.co/lrLZHcBtc0

Following the club’s post, fans were quick to believe that the youngster could be set to feature in the Championship next season, as youth could be handed extended opportunities in the lower division.
Nevertheless, here’s a look at exactly the sort of reaction being given off on social media…
