It’s a deal that has been spoken about all day within the Football Transfer Tavern but it now appears that a deal to take England international keeper Jack Butland to Stoke City from Birmingham City has now been agreed.
BBC Sport are reporting that the two Midlands clubs have sorted out a fee worth just over £4 million for the 19-year-old who will stay at St. Andrews for the rest of the season on loan.
Butland won praise from punters after he rejected Chelsea’s advances earlier this week as he wants to ensure first team football and not be stuck on the bench as would be the case at Chelsea behind regular Petr Cech.
With Asmir Begovic winning admirers from the top clubs in the Premier League, Butland could very easily head to the Britannia Stadium in the summer as a straight swap for the Bosnian shot stopper.
After a successful spell on loan at Cheltenham Town, Butland attracted attention after appearing for Team GB during the London 2012 Olympic Games and recently made his full England debut during the 2-1 win against Italy in August.
Cash strapped Birmingham hope to now take some Stoke players on loan for the rest of the season as part of the Butland deal that is expected to be officially completed later today with the youngster currently in the Potteries to iron out the final details.
