The Liverpool fans simply cannot get enough of Roberto Firmino right now, but they are slightly concerned that an injury to the Brazilian could derail their bid to finish in the top-four this season.
Roberto Firmino has been in sensational form in recent weeks and he has deservedly claimed plaudits from fans and pundits alike. The 26-year-old is pivotal to Liverpool’s creativity in the final-third, so the club will need to ensure he avoids any needless injuries during the final months of the season as they only have Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings available to step in if Firmino is ruled out.
Liverpool also had Daniel Sturridge to call upon during the first-half of the season, but the club allowed him to move to West Brom on loan in January to boost his chances of playing first-team football. The decision was heavily criticised by plenty of supporters despite his torrid record with injuries in recent years.
Sturridge undoubtedly wanted to move to The Hawthorns to boost his chances of being selected for Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad next summer, but his dreams were dealt a hammer blow in only his third appearance for the club, as he was forced off with a hamstring injury after just three minutes against Chelsea on February 12th.
The initial prognosis suggested that Sturridge would only be sidelined for two weeks, but according to The Mirror, he is expected to sit out another month of action due to the injury he collected against Chelsea. In response to Sturridge’s latest setback, plenty of supporters expressed their sympathy for his situation, whilst others called for the 28-year-old to announce his premature retirement.
There is still plenty of time for Sturridge to resurrect his stuttering career, but it’s easy to understand why supporters are beginning to write him off considering the extent to which injuries have served to plague his career in English football.
Here’s what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have had to say about Sturridge’s latest blow…
He'd have been one of the premier league's greatest ever strikers if it wasn't for his injuries.

Which justifies the decision to loan him out in prep for a perm move away. Sad his injuries ruined a possible great career.

lettuce legs, making a living off doing virtually nothing. I like Sturridge as a footballer but it's rare he plays football.

So sorry for this man. A week always becomes a month and very often before you know it it’s half a season or so. Really hope he’s got better luck this time.
