‘The Malian Jamie Vardy’ is not a moniker our landlord has come across before, but reports from The Sun claim that Spurs are chasing a player to have been handed that nickname: Moussa Marega.
The 25-year-old frontman is on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes from Porto for the season and has hit an impressive 12 goals in 21 games for Os Conquistadores, which has alerted big clubs to him.
And The Sun claim that Spurs are among those teams interested in the striker, who has a £35m release clause in his Porto contract.
The Portuguese giants are not a side known for selling players on the cheap, so even if the buyout figure is not needed to secure a deal, it’s unlikely that he’ll come cheap.
Marega has been likened to Vardy due to his rise from relative obscurity, with the 6ft. 1” hitman having progressed through the lower reaches French football in recent seasons to move to an elite level club.
The aforementioned Leicester ace is well-known for having been in League Two as recently as 2012 with Fleetwood Town.
Spurs are facing a pivotal summer of transfer activity – agree?
