While he wasn’t at his best last night, the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will never not back Dele Alli.
It’s been a frustrating season for the 21-year-old so far, though few would doubt the England star’s quality, which is why reports emanating out of Spain have gone down so poorly.
According to SPORT, Barcelona are keen on signing the former MK Dons youngster, as a potential alternative for Philippe Coutinho. Indeed, the Blaugrana tried and failed to sign the Liverpool ace over the course of the summer and are now said to have turned their attentions to Alli.
He’s believed to have been closely followed by Barca’s general manager, Pep Segura, with a belief reportedly abound the Camp Nou that Alli could seriously strengthen the club’s midfield. While a new contract with Spurs is thought to be on the way, the report claims the midfielder could cost €150m, a realistic figure to sped for a club like Barcelona.
It’s going to be difficult to fend off any interest from Spain in Alli over the next few years. Hopefully for Tottenham, Alli will sign a new contract to keep him in north London for another year or two, though staying for the long-term may not be a realistic notion.
