Spurs fans in the Tavern were absolutely buzzing last night when Fernando Llorente scored a perfect hat-trick in just 12 second-half minutes to put their FA Cup tie against Rochdale to bed with half an hour to play.
The big Spaniard, who boasts World Cup, Europa League and Serie A winners medals, joined Spurs from Swansea after his 15 Premier League goals were enough to keep the Welsh outfit in England’s top flight last season. Since his move, Llorente has predictably played second fiddle to Harry Kane in the league, restricting him to appearances in the domestic cup competitions.
After failing to make an impact in the first game vs Rochdale at Spotland, Llorente shone in the replay scoring with both feet and his head to book Spurs a tie against his former side Swansea in the quarterfinals. The dominant, goal-scoring performance from the target-man was exactly what Tottenham fans expected from the 33-year-old and no one will be happier than Llorente, having celebrated his birthday two days before his first hat-trick since he put three past Rayo Vallecano in La Liga back in January 2012.
Spurs fans were obviously delighted to be advancing to the next round of the FA Cup and will be hoping Llorente is in the same from when the North Londoner’s travel to the Liberty Stadium in a few weeks time.
Here’s what Spurs fans made of Llorente!
He’s had a difficult time at spurs, but he deserves that
