Good news for Tottenham emerges despite big summer interest in crucial duo

Tottenham fans here in the Tavern are hoping to keep hold of some of their stars in the summer, after seeing them produce some world-class performances so far this season.

The Lilywhites are desperate to secure Champions League football for next season, after beating world champions Real Madrid in the group stages of the current competition. Although, their superb efforts so far this season have been mainly down to the quality and efforts of Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane, two of the most influential figures at the North London club. But, having enjoyed such impressive seasons thus far, they’re beginning to attract attention from some of the world’s best, as according to reports in the Independent, Florentino Perez wants both Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino at the Bernabeu.

Indeed, the Spanish giants are planning a major overhaul at the end of the season after witnessing the horrors of their current domestic campaign, with a goalscorer needed to replace Karim Benzema at the pinnacle of the attack. And, it appears that Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to bring striker Harry Kane to the club as the ideal replacement, but the difficulty of completing a deal has caused for him to take a look at other options.

Real Madrid have been discouraged by Zinedine Zidane’s managerial abilities so far this campaign, after producing one of the worst domestic seasons in the club’s recent history. And, Mauricio Pochettino’s impressive legacy in North London hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Perez wanting to bring the Argentine to the Spanish capital as an admirer of his work. Although, difficulties in completing a deal to bring Pochettino to Madrid has caused for the Los Blancos president to take his search elsewhere.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Real Madrid’s interest in both men will worry supporters just a little, but the fact that Florentino Perez is beginning to look elsewhere could mean that they start next season with the pair still in their ranks. Indeed, this is the kind of interest that the Lilywhites have to fend off at all costs, as losing either of these two key figures could prove costly in the long run.
