With the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern excited about their imminent doubleheader with Real Madrid, they’re unsure as to whether or not they want to see one man.
Indeed, our north London locals are split as to whether they would like Los Blancos to field club legend Gareth Bale against them in the Champions League, for the first time in a competitive game since his then world record departure in 2013.
Some don’t want him to play at all, believing their chances of a shock win are much better without him, though others would like to see how the new generation deal with the 28-year-old.
The Welshman has struggled with injury of late and limped out of Madrid’s win over Borussia Dortmund, though reports from the Daily Mail suggest he could be in contention for an emotional matchup.
While he’ll miss Wales’ crunch World Cup qualifiers, Bale is only thought to have suffered a swollen calf muscle, rather than a tear, reportedly meaning he could make the game in the Santiago Bernabeu on October 18th.
Harry Kane vs Gareth Bale should be a very interesting sight. After spending so much money to try and replace Bale, Kane is finally becoming the talisman Tottenham need at the top level, so the neutrals would surely love to see it.
For our Spurs mad punters though, it may not be such a boost.
