Tottenham supporters have been pretty happy in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side book their place in the last 16 of the FA Cup courtesy of a 2-0 win over Newport County in a fourth round replay at Wembley on Wednesday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men were fortunate to escape from Rodney Parade back in January with a replay following Harry Kane’s late leveller, but there were no such problems for the North London outfit at the national stadium earlier this week. An own goal from Dan Butler as well as an Erik Lamela strike was enough to see off Michael Flynn’s League Two outfit on Wednesday night, thus earning Spurs a fifth round clash with Rochdale later this month.
Consequently, there have been many delighted Tottenham fans in the Tavern in recent times, and they are likely to be intrigued by a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, which suggests that manager Pochettino dreams about signing Juventus striker Paulo Dybala.
The 24-year-old made the move to the Italian giants back in 2015 after a successful stint at Palermo, and he has since gone from strength to strength in Turin with 59 goals in just 122 games for the club, helping them to back-to-back Serie A titles.
And the Argentina international may well be fit enough to face Pochettino’s Spurs in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Tuesday, which is likely to be of particular interest to the Tottenham chief given that he reportedly dreams of signing the supremely talented striker.
But with the report going to on link Dybala to Real Madrid were Pochettino to one day take over at the Bernabeu, it’s news which isn’t likely to thrill our resident Spurs fans too much.
Landlord’s verdict: Paulo Dybala is in a race against time to be fit for Juventus’ Champions League last-16 clash with Tottenham next week, having missed their last four games due to a hamstring injury.
And the 24-year-old striker is reportedly someone who Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino dreams of signing, and no wonder given that his compatriot has bagged 59 goals in only 122 matches for Juve since moving there back in 2015.
However, the report does go on to link Dybala to Real Madrid were Pochettino to one day take over the European champions, although Pochettino will surely be hoping that the 24-year-old is kept quiet should he be passed fit to play against his Tottenham side on Tuesday.
