Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly hoping that this summer window is more successful than the one that happened last year.

Indeed, after the window shut at the beginning of this campaign it soon became clear that many of the players that had been signed were not going to be able to have a good enough impact at the club.

The Hammers, then, need to avoid a repeat when the window once again opens for business and it appears as though they are looking into Leeds striker Chris Wood.

The New Zealand international was on fire in the Championship this season and would surely enjoy taking on the task of taking over from Andy Carroll as the most reliable source of goals for the Hammers.

The Mirror, then, believes that the east London side is leading the chase for his signature alongside Stoke City though it appears either side will have to fork out a decent amount of money with a £15 million price tag touted.
