The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are very proud of their side’s rich history of developing young players. Anfield has been a fantastic place for a youngster to be over the years, and that’s been particularly true since Jurgen Klopp came in.

The German has been keen to invest in youth as much as possible, and a number of youngsters have been handed their debuts under the manager.

Last season saw the tremendous rise of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Given a chance by Klopp, the Englishman took it with both hands, and Liverpool’s manager must have felt vindicated by his decision to start him.

Naturally, then, you’d expect him to give other chances next season, and that’s looking likely to be the case, it seems.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Harry Wilson will be given a chance to impress in pre-season, with a view to him becoming a more prominent member of the first team squad next season.

Unsurprisingly, this has led to a lot of smiling faces in the Transfer Tavern, and it’s a similar tale online, too.

Liverpool fans have taken to Reddit to discuss the news, and it’s fair to say that they’re very happy indeed. They’re very excited to see him get a chance, and one has even compared him to Gareth Bale, of Real Madrid.

Bale, of course, is a quick, technically gifted attacking midfielder, and Wilson certainly falls under a similar description. They both offer a tremendous threat going forward, and though Bale is far older and more experienced, it is an apt comparison.

Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
