The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in The Scottish Sun that has linked them with a move for out-of-favour Brighton and Hove Albion defender, Connor Goldson. The 25-year-old has struggled to usurp Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy at the heart of The Seagull’s defence, although he could be making a sensational Ibrox switch to replace the wantaway, James Tavernier.
Connor Goldson is a quality centre-back who oozes class and has been extremely unlucky to find himself vying for a first-team spot at Brighton whilst Dunk and Duffy have been in the form of their lives. The 25-year-old ex-Shrewsbury man has never played outside of the English league system, however, he could become Steven Gerrard’s second signing since moving to Glasgow, as the club prepare to replace James Tavernier.
Crystal Palace have registered a serious interest in the Gers stand-in captain, Tavernier and it would be no surprise to see Roy Hodgson swoop for the defender in the summer window, with just £4 million needed to bring the player into Selhurst Park. Tavernier leaving Ibrox would no doubt be a big loss for the club, although it’s nothing that Steven Gerrard wouldn’t be able to handle, with Goldson being targetted as an ideal replacement.

Gerrard will have more success chasing rainbows if chasing players involves transfer fees!
