# QPR: Hoops set to rubber stamp Jordan Archer signing

**Queens Park Rangers are set to finalise a deal for Scottish goalkeeper Jordan Archer in the next 24 hours \[[West London Sport](https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-to-confirm-keeper-deal-plus-latest-on-johansen-windass-and-cox)\].**

### The Lowdown: Warburton gets busy ahead of 2021/22

Looking towards 2021/22, R’s manager Mark Warburton will be desperate to acquire the calibre of player necessary to push his side towards the top end of the Sky Bet Championship table.

Enjoying a splendid summer window thus far, the West London outfit have signed no fewer than four first-team players in the form of Charlie Austin, Jordy De Wijs, Sam Field and Andre Dozzell \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/queens-park-rangers/transfers/verein/1039)\].

Now, they seem likely to add a fifth signing of the window in the form of 28-year-old Archer.

### The Latest: Archer expected to arrive in West London imminently

Presently, the free agent is set to arrive at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in imminent fashion \[[West London Sport](https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-to-confirm-keeper-deal-plus-latest-on-johansen-windass-and-cox)\].

He will come into replace fellow Scot Liam Kelly, who has departed on a permanent deal to Motherwell in order to gain regular first-team football \[[West London Live](https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-to-confirm-keeper-deal-plus-latest-on-johansen-windass-and-cox)\].

The former Millwall stopper most recently plied his trade for Middlesbrough, leaving the Riverside Stadium at the end of May following his contract expiration \[[Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/neil-warnock-jordan-archer-middlesbrough-nathaniel-mendezlaing-sky-bet-championship-b1855745.html)\].

### The Verdict: Archer is a solid signing for QPR

Looking at the situation objectively, QPR fans will be pleased that they have landed some established competition for current number one goalkeeper Seny Dieng.

In 2020/21, Archer made 10 appearances combined for Motherwell and Boro, managing to keep only a solitary clean sheet \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-archer/leistungsdaten/spieler/177952/plus/0?saison=2020)\], but he does have international experience, earning his debut for Scotland in a 2-0 friendly defeat against Peru in South America \[[BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44219810)\].

Experienced and available for nothing, he will help in the short-term to provide some depth in the QPR goalkeeping department without costing the club a penny other than his wages.

Whether he breaks into the side as number one or not, this looks to be a shrewd acquisition.
