# Rangers: Fans slam James Tavernier’s performance vs St Mirren

**A number of Rangers supporters have criticised James Tavernier’s performance in the first half of their Premiership clash with St Mirren.**

Steven Gerrard’s side are back in action this afternoon as they continue their pursuit of a second consecutive league crown.

Rangers have made the trip to Paisley hoping to return to the top of the table, with a draw [enough to take](https://www.skysports.com/football/st-mirren-vs-rangers/table/445337) the champions ahead of current leaders Hearts. A win is far more preferable, though, and victory over their seventh-placed opponents would be another statement of intent to their rivals.

However, they fell behind to a fourth-minute goal from Connor Ronan, but two goals in as many minutes coming up to half-time turned the game on its head to give Gerrard’s men a 2-1 lead at the interval.

One player who struggled to impress for Rangers in the opening exchanges was Tavernier, who produced a disappointing first half display and was deemed by some fans to have made an error in the lead-up to St Mirren opening the scoring. He also picked up a yellow card as early as the [19th minute](https://www.skysports.com/football/st-mirren-vs-rangers/live/445337) and lost out on [many of his duels](https://www.sofascore.com/st-mirren-rangers/bXsjX) in the first half.
