Rangers: Giovanni van Bronckhorst dealt James Tavernier injury concern -Rangers News

Glasgow Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have been dealt an injury concern with regards to James Tavernier.

The Lowdown: Under pressure

Van Bronckhorst may be starting to feel a little bit of pressure after back-to-back 4-0 defeats to bitter rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership followed by Ajax in their UEFA Champions League opener.

Tavernier was just one player who struggled on Wednesday evening, as he was taken off at half-time after losing out on four of his duels, failing to record a shot on goal, successful dribble, key pass or cross and losing the ball a total of nine times throughout the match (SofaScore).

The Latest: Tavernier injury

Speaking to the media in his post-game press conference after the match, Van Bronckhorst revealed (via The Glasgow Times) that Tavernier is ‘struggling a little bit’ with a knock that he picked up a couple of weeks ago:

“Tav had already got a knock a couple of weeks ago and he’s struggling a little bit.

“Also with his fitness. It was good to change him because we could put Leon in as he was struggling a bit in the first half.”

The fact that Tavernier is still struggling with injury is certainly concerning for the Ibrox outfit.

Should Rangers start Tavernier?

No

No

He currently ranks as their best performer in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, already notching up two goals and two assists (WhoScored), and as captain leads by example on the pitch.

However, Van Bronckhorst will surely not want to risk further aggravating his injury, and so should consider resting Tavernier for the Gers’ game away at Aberdeen on Saturday lunchtime.
