Glasgow Rangers have reportedly 'opened talks' over a new contract for Adam Devine.

The Lowdown: Top talent

Devine is regarded by Ibrox coaches to be a top talent, and at just 19 years of age, he has already played twice for the senior team.

The defender has also featured heavily at youth level for the Gers and has already made three appearances for Rangers B so far this term (Transfermarkt).

The Latest: Contract talks

Taking to Twitter, reliable journalist Pete O'Rourke has revealed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side have now 'opened talks' with Devine over a new deal at Ibrox.

The reporter stated: "Rangers have opened talks with defender Adam Devine over a new contract."

The Verdict: Great business

It is certainly great business from the Light Blues to secure one of their prominent upcoming prospects in Devine to a new contract.

With Nathan Patterson sold to Everton last January, the teenage right-back should get more opportunities to play for the Gers' first team this season, and he will have a great mentor in captain James Tavernier.

Devine's versatility means that he can also fill in on the left-hand side of the pitch if needed, an extra quality which should please Van Bronckhorst, and so the 19-year-old should expect to be given chances to impress over the course of what promises to be another busy season for Rangers.
