Rangers: Angus Gunn a ‘good fit’ for Ibrox

Rangers have been told that Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn ‘could be a good fit’ by journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Lowdown: McGregor set to leave
Allan McGregor is now set to leave Rangers at the end of the season, upon what will be the expiration of his contract, and Michael Beale is now tasked with finding a suitable replacement for the man with 475 Gers appearances to his name.
The Scottish Sun report that Beale is eyeing Gunn to replace the club legend at the end of the campaign, having been dropped by new Norwich boss David Wagner, and O’Rourke has now given his thoughts on the potential move…
The Latest: O’Rourke reacts
In an interview with GiveMeSport, O’Rourke backed the 27-year-old to come in and replace both McGregor and Jon McLaughlin, saying: “It’s obviously an area of the team that I think Michael Beale realises that he’s going to have to make changes to in the summer.
“Allan McGregor’s not getting any younger and still playing at over 40, and Jon McLaughlin has probably not grabbed his chance when he has played in the first team.
“So, Angus Gunn could be a good fit. He’s a good young goalkeeper, he’s not always been playing regularly at Norwich City, but he has got good experience of playing in the Premier League, so I think it could be a good fit for Rangers.
The Verdict: Get it done?
While the goalkeeper did have a short spell out of the team recently, he has since forced his way back into Wagner’s plans, keeping a clean sheet in his most recent outing against Wigan Athletic.
Hailed as ‘brilliant’ by sections of the media earlier this season, the 6 foot 5 colossus has recorded a far better save percentage than McGregor over the past year, while he has also averaged less goals against per 90, indicating he would be a real upgrade.
Given that Rangers’ current first-choice keeper is now 41, it is evident Beale needs to replace him in the summer, and Gunn would be a fantastic signing, especially considering he is just about to come into his prime years at 27.
