Glasgow Rangers bosses are reportedly worrying that they could lose young talent Jack Wylie to the Premier League.

The Lowdown: Academy standout

Wylie is thought to be an academy standout at Ibrox, and the 15-year-old full-back has also featured for Scotland’s U16s, playing in a friendly game against Denmark in September (The Daily Record).

Now, he is attracting attention from one of the biggest clubs in the English top flight, potentially following the path of Rory Wilson, who left the Gers academy ranks this summer.

The Latest: Arsenal interest

As per The Daily Record, Arsenal are now 'leading the chase' to sign Wylie, who is not eligible to sign his professional terms until he turns 16 in January.

The Gunners have been 'monitoring' his situation, and have watched him regularly over the past few months.

They even sent their chief youth spy Lee Herron to Spain to keep tabs on the talented teenager when he played for Scotland’s U16s, and Ibrox bosses are now worrying that they could be set to lose out on another of their hottest young prospects.

The Verdict: Difficult situation

It is certainly a difficult situation for the Gers to be in, as it is hard to compete against a team like Arsenal when keeping hold of their young prospects.

Mikel Arteta's side are one of the most decorated teams in English football, and currently sit top of the Premier League table with a massive financial advantage.

Nonetheless, the Light Blues will not want to lose another one of their starlets after letting go of Wilson, but it will seemingly be hard to keep hold of Wylie in 2023.
