A report from 24 Sata has said that Borna Barisic almost gave up on football, and his move to Glasgow Rangers to play under Steven Gerrard contributed to his revival.
Barisic almost gave up
The report says that the Croatia international suffered a serious knee injury as a 19 year-old that almost led to him walking away. In the end, though, he recovered and made his name in the sport.
His move to Ibrox has since contributed to Barisic’s revival, the report adds.
Hugely important to Gerrard
Barisic is undoubtedly one of the first names on the teamsheet for Steven Gerrard so far this campaign. He has appeared in 18 of the 20 matches they have played in all competitions, and has been important both in defence and attack. The 54-time Scottish champions have conceded just seven times in all competitions this term, and Barisic has one goal and seven assists to his name already.
Is Barisic Rangers' best player?
After his assist against Lech Poznan, Gerrard called him ‘miraculous’. It is clear that the 28-year-old is such an important member of the squad – it is vital that he stays at Ibrox for as long as possible. With the Gers in with a real chance of picking up a first piece of major silverware since 2011, Barisic has a huge role to play between now and the end of the campaign.
