Glasgow Rangers have now scouted striker Jerry Yates ahead of a potential move in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Great performance

The 25-year-old scored two goals and set up another as Blackpool beat Preston North End 4-2 in the English Championship on Saturday.

Yates' manager Michael Appleton hailed his 'incredible form' in his post-match interview, as the striker now has six goals and one assist in his last four league games, and 10 goal contributions in total for the season so far (Transfermarkt).

The Latest: Yates scouted by Rangers

As per The Scottish Sun on Monday morning, Giovanni van Bronckhorst's Rangers were one of 10 clubs who sent scouts to watch Yates in action ahead of a potential move in January.

He has two years left on his deal with Blackpool and is currently rated at £5m.

The Verdict: Morelos replacement?

Alfredo Morelos was linked with a move away from Ibrox in the summer and only has a few months left on his current contract.

With summer signing Antonio Colak firing on all cylinders, the Colombia international seems destined to leave Rangers within the next year, so a replacement will be needed.

Given Yates' record, and with the likes of John Lundstram having made the transition from the English Championship to the Light Blues in the past, the 25-year-old would seemingly be an ideal replacement if Morelos departs and could potentially challenge Colak for a starting berth should he sign in January.
