A goal from youngster Cole McKinnon in the second half was enough to win the Old Firm derby, in what was described as a 'positive and dominant away performance' on the Gers' official website.

The Latest: Podcaster reacts

Taking to Twitter, Heart & Hand reacted to the news of the Ibrox youngsters' win with the caption 'Outstanding youngsters!'

The three points puts them just three behind their rivals with a game in hand, giving them real hope of overtaking the Hoops with the season drawing to a close.

The Verdict: Exciting

The Rangers academy is clearly doing very well at the moment judging by this result and their league standing, which will be exciting for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the club's supporters.

The Dutchman may well be especially keen to add one or two of the B team to his ranks for next term, and players like McKinnon scoring against Celtic will no doubt catch his eye.

Nonetheless, the 47-year-old must first concentrate on getting the result that he needs in the second leg against Braga in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday night, but it is good to see the academy thriving as the players aim for promotion to the senior team.
