Glasgow Rangers are reportedly interested in bringing Gary Cahill to Ibrox as a free agent.
The Lowdown: Serial winner
At 36 years of age, Cahill is a serial winner, having lifted eight major trophies during his time at Chelsea, including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
Now a free agent after most recently leaving AFC Bournemouth, he is still able to sign for other clubs, despite the domestic transfer window closing earlier this month.
The Latest: Rangers interest
They will face competition from Coventry City, among other teams in the Championship, for his signature.
The Verdict: Smart move
Given what he has won in his career, Cahill would certainly be a big player to have in the Ibrox dressing room ahead of another crucial Scottish Premiership and European campaign.
Should Rangers sign Cahill?
Upon learning that Steven Gerrard wanted to sign him when he was Gers manager in 2021, former Light Blues left-back Michael Ball said that his experience would be ‘fantastic‘ for his old club, having amassed over 600 senior appearances combined at club and international level over the course of his career so far.
Nonetheless, the six-foot-four Englishman will no doubt be eager to prove himself once again by finding a new club, and the Teddy Bears could be a good fit for all parties.
