Journalist Georgios Sideridis says that Glasgow Rangers 'will make a move' to sign Dimitrios Kourbelis this summer, should Ryan Jack end up leaving Ibrox.

The Lowdown: Contract expiring

Jack's current deal at Rangers is set to expire this summer, meaning that he can leave as a free agent at the end of the season.

Should he depart, Michael Beale will need to bring in a new midfielder, or risk leaving himself short in that area of the pitch come next term.

The Latest: Kourbelis interest

Taking to Twitter, Sideridis says that the Gers 'will make a move' for Panathinaikos midfielder and captain Kourbelis in the summer, should Jack not renew his contract:

"Rangers are considering Panathinaikos’ captain Dimitrios Kourbelis as the alternative of Ryan Jack.

"If the Scottish midfielder will not renew his contract with Rangers, they will make a move for Kourbelis whose contract expires on June with Panathinaikos."

The Verdict: Ideal replacement

Kourbelis would be an ideal replacement for Jack, given that he is a couple of years younger at 29, and has plenty of experience not just in Greek football, but in Europe as well.

Once hailed as 'superb' defensively by journalist Josh Bunting, Kourbelis is winning four of his duels per game on average in the Greek top flight, and is also averaging 1.3 tackles and 1.1 clearances per match (SofaScore).

His leadership skills as captain has seen Panathanaikos rise to the top of the league, and the Light Blues would be hoping that he could have a similar affect on them as they look to beat bitter rivals Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title.
