The first Old Firm clash of the season has unfortunately come too soon for new Glasgow Rangers signing Bongani Zungu, Steven Gerrard has confirmed.
The South Africa international made the switch to Ibrox on transfer deadline day after a summer of speculatior. Of course, the immediate international break means that he is yet to play for his new club since making the move.
Unfortunately, it looks as though Rangers fans will have wait a little while longer to see him in action. In his pre-match press conference, Gerrard confirmed that Zungu will be unavailable for the next ten days as he has to quarantine.
Will Rangers beat Celtic this weekend?
As such, he will miss the match against Celtic, as well as the subsequent two games against Standard Liege and Livingston. Whilst Gerrard has a number of midfield options available to him with the likes of Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara, he will have been hoping to be able to select Zungu, even if only to put him on the bench.
It is fair to say these ‘Gers fans weren’t happy with the manager’s “frustrating” update, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about Zungu

Frustrating. Had ample time to have him over here during international break and could have been involved.. https://t.co/hIhoboPMNz
