Glasgow Rangers: Fans livid as Steven Gerrard receives Scottish FA charge

Many Glasgow Rangers fans were fuming after it emerged that manager Steven Gerrard had been charged by the Scottish FA over comments made following a recent match.
As per the Daily Record, the 40-year-old must go before the SFA next month to explain comments he made after his team’s 4-0 win over Dundee United, when he suggested that Alfredo Morelos would have been sent off for a challenge for which Ryan Edwards was unsanctioned.
In light of that charge, the Ibrox club issued a statement on their official website (and also shared on Twitter via @RangersFC) in which they called the charge “bizarre” and one that they plan to “robustly contest at the scheduled hearing”.
The Light Blues have been involved in several contentious incidents in recent games. The aforementioned match also saw Liam Smith escape a red card for a knee-high challenge on Brandon Barker.
Do you think Rangers get a raw deal from referees in Scottish football?
Yes

No

Then, in Sunday’s draw against Hibernian, Paul Hanlon elbowed Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos was unceremoniously checked by Ryan Porteous, with neither incident yielding the dismissal that Gerrard felt they warranted.
The ‘Gers also faced a running battle with the SPFL earlier this year after the 2019/20 season was ended prematurely, accusing them of corruption over their handling of the league resolution proposal and unsuccessfully calling for an independent inquiry into the organisation.
These fans of the Light Blues on Twitter were unsurprisingly livid over Gerrard being charged for his comments on the Edwards incident, with one fan describing the development as a “shambles”:

It’s actually getting beyond a joke how much everybody in the Scottish game is against Rangers now. Nothing happens with the challenge on Alfie but this is somehow worth going against?

Watch interviews with English club managers week after week coming out with stronger comments than SG and their FA have no issue with them……our FA live in the dark ages

SFA – Not fit for purpose.

Absolute shambles .. it’s beyond a joke now.. the whole world will always regard Scottish football as tin pot for these exact reasons!! Laughing stock.

Could we then consider charging them for ineptitude of the highest order? One solitary example would be the offside equaliser for Hibs on Sunday but there are many more.
