Glasgow Rangers marked the 24th birthday of Joe Aribo yesterday by sharing a clip on Instagram (via @rangersfc) of one of his standout goals from last season.
The ‘Gers posted footage of his wonder strike from December’s 3-0 win at Hibernian, when neat interplay between Aribo and Ryan Jack on the right culminated in the latter crossing for the ex-Charlton man to finish to the net and put his team two goals up inside nine minutes at Easter Road (as per BBC).
The Ibrox club posted footage of that strike as their ‘Goal of the Day’ on Instagram, captioning it as “a perfect finish to enjoy” on the Nigeria international’s 24th birthday.
The comments section of the post was quickly flooded with numerous ‘Gers fans waxing lyrical about the quality of the finish from Aribo, with one supporter describing it as among their favourite goals from Steven Gerrard’s team in 2019/20. [via @rangersfc on Instagram]
Having joined from Charlton last summer, the Nigerian quickly became a regular under Gerrard at Ibrox, making 48 appearances (including 25 Premiership starts) and scoring nine goals along with providing eight assists. He also displayed tremendous versatility by adapting to a right winger role, having initially carved out a place in the Light Blues’ line-up as a central midfielder. [via TransferMarkt]
