Glasgow Rangers: Fans voice their disagreement with Ewan Murray tweet

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have hit out at journalist Ewan Murray over a question he posed on social media.
He took to Twitter (via @mrewanmurray) to suggest that the ‘Gers, along with Old Firm rivals Celtic, should consider helping cash-stricken clubs in Scottish football given their superior resources.
The Old Firm have spent millions on players this summer. Has anyone suggested they help out Scottish football rather than the government?

The severe woes facing numerous clubs in the lower divisions of the SPFL were laid bare in an article in the Daily Record, with many teams fearing a ‘catastrophic’ collapse amid the UK government’s impending restrictions, which will likely defer any possibility of fans returning to games for at least six months, having already been inactive since early March due to the outbreak of the global pandemic.
In turn, many clubs are fearful of going bust unless the Scottish government provides an emergency funding package to keep them afloat.
Should Rangers provide financial support to struggling SPFL clubs?
Yes

No

The ‘Gers have spent £10.35m on new signings this summer (as per TransferMarkt) and bankrolled several million pounds from their run to the Europa League round of 16 last season.
However, many of the Ibrox faithful have not forgotten how a majority of Premiership chairmen voted them out of the top flight following their liquidation in 2012. The ‘Gers also saw their calls for an independent inquiry into the SPFL rejected by a majority of clubs after they accused the governing body of corruption over their handling of the league resolution proposal this year.
Consequently, these ‘Gers fans gave short shrift to Murray’s suggestion:
Is that a serious question, Ewan?
Scottish football has been living off the blue pound for a generation, only to bite the hand that feeds them.
Absolutely no way i’d want Rangers to help a single club out.

You for real. We will never forget. You’ve obviously forgot 2012.

U really expect Rangers to help those who have actively worked against them screaming about Spirting Integrity…… pic.twitter.com/sHcQnuIDXh

Rangers were on their knees in 2012 & we still haven’t recovered. Other clubs supporters took great enjoyment from this so why on earth would we help them?

Let’s get this right you are suggesting that Rangers support the clubs who accept the corruption of the SFA.
The clubs who cut our away allocation just to make a point.
The same clubs that voted for us to be wrongly thrown out the league in 2012.
That’s plenty Ewan! https://t.co/m1V3gl1nFY

We did, we offered to pay for an independent review into SPFL governance and transparency.
It was declined.

Rangers have been kicked from pillar to post for the best part of a decade by all and sundry. Rangers have done more for Scottish Football than Scottish Football has done for Rangers.
Sorry if Rangers don’t bend over backwards to help the clubs who wanted Rangers dead. https://t.co/WiLa0uzCpg
