Sadiq joined Steven Gerrard’s side on loan in the summer of 2018, but he would end up making just four first-team appearances for the Ibrox outfit before he departed in December of that same year.
However, he has obviously done a whole lot better with Partizan in Serbia, with him now earning a €5m (£4.6m) switch to one of Europe’s top five leagues.
It just goes to show that a bad spell in Scotland does not necessarily spell the end of a player’s career. Whilst Sadiq was never able to make the grade with the 54-time Scottish champions, he has been in stunning form in the Balkan state. Last term, he managed a rather remarkable 17 goals and 17 assists in 39 games in all competitions, and he has managed six strikes and two assists in 13 matches this campaign, showing no signs of slowing down.
Did you expect Umar Sadiq to hit these heights?
He also has four goals in six caps for Nigeria – it is fair to say that he has gone from strength to strength since leaving Ibrox. Given the way he has performed recently, £4.6m may well be a snip for his services – something that many Gers fans will likely never have expected to hear.
