Glasgow Rangers: Fans delighted with Michael Stewart being omitted from BBC Sportscene line-up

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans took pleasure in discovering that Michael Stewart will not be on Sportscene this weekend as the BBC programme returns to coincide with the start of the new Premiership season.
As per Daily Record, Jonathan Sutherlands hosts Saturday’s broadcast while Steven Thompson is the newly-installed host of the Sunday show. Marvin Bartley, James McFadden, Craig Gordon, Shelley Kerr, Julie Fleeting and Shaun Maloney will be the guests this weekend.

Stewart had been suspended by the broadcaster for a period last season when he lashed out at Ibrox PR head Jim Traynor on air amid a furore over a mistranslated Sky Sports interview with ‘Gers striker Alfredo Morelos, a rant which was deemed as a breach of editorial conduct by the BBC (as per Daily Record).
The pundit also publicly questioned how the ‘Gers could afford to spend £5m on Ianis Hagi in May having previously posted losses and cut players’ wages during the global pandemic, a stance which drew criticism from some of the Ibrox faithful.
