Noel Whelan says that Premier League clubs will be queuing up to sign Glasgow Rangers winger Ryan Kent next summer.
Kent in demand
Leeds United were interested in the 24 year-old during the summer, even having a £10m bid rejected by the Ibrox outfit for his services.
Whelan believes they will not be the last top-tier English side to try their luck with the former Liverpool man. He told Football Insider:
“They will be queuing up next year but they were queuing up at the start of this season as well. Rangers did the right thing in not letting him go.
“He is on fire at the minute. He looks unstoppable in certain games.
“He does all of the hard stuff, he has the pace, the power and the tricks and his finishing is no longer letting him down.
“Kent is one of these players who scares defenders. He is very clever, quick on the ball and brings others into play – a key player for Rangers.
“I think Steven Gerrard has improved every player at that club, not just Ryan Kent. What Gerrard has done with that group of players from last season is incredible.”
At the start of this campaign, Kent was in fantastic form for the 54-time Scottish champions. In his first 10 matches of the term, he picked up five goals and five assists in all competitions. Whilst he has only managed one assist since then, he has remained in the side, showing his importance to Steven Gerrard even when he isn’t on top form.
Will Ryan Kent leave next summer?
As Whelan says, the Oldham native is finally looking like a star player for Rangers, and at 24 he still has plenty of time ahead of him. As is often the case, Premier League sides will soon come calling – the most important thing for Rangers, though, is that he contributes to his current club as long as he remains north of the border.
In other news, Rangers have been urged to sign this Premier League man.
